DEPENDABLE EXCELLENCE IN VECTOR-BORNE DIAGNOSTICS

RICKETTSIA MONTANENSIS

Rickettsia montanensis was initially isolated from Dermacentor variabilis and D. andersoni ticks in eastern Montana (USA) in 1963. Although prevalent in these vector species that also host R. rickettsii, human infection has yet to be linked to R. montanensis and animal models suggest that this is a non-pathogenic species for humans.
